What Wildflower does during the trading day

From the market opening to your account going quiet at the close: what runs, in what order, and what you will see.

Updated 12 October 2026 · 2 minute read

Once an account is switched on, this is the shape of its day.

Before the open

Wildflower loads enough recent price history to see the market as if it had been running all night. It does not act until that warmup is done.

While the market is open

At the close of every candle, for every market in your strategy, Wildflower works through these steps in order:

  1. Look for a setup. Is there a setup here at all? Most of the time there is not, and that is the answer for that candle.
  2. Check your gates. A gate is a filter block you added. Every gate gets a say, and any one of them can turn the setup down.
  3. Check your score floors. A score floor is a minimum score you set. A setup below it is passed over.
  4. Check the account. Is a trade already open? Has a daily limit been reached? Is it inside a news window, a rest window, or an hour you switched off? Is the account paused or stopped?
  5. Work out the size. The number of contracts comes from your risk per trade and the distance to the stop. Then your limits apply. If that works out at zero contracts, the trade is not taken.
  6. Send the order with its stop and target, using the entry type you chose.

Every step is written down, including every time a trade is turned down. You can read them in plain English on the Activity page's Everything else tab.

While a trade is open

Your exits run: stops, targets, trailing stops, moves to breakeven, partial profits and time limits. You do not need to watch.

At the close

Wildflower follows the exchange's hours. Nothing is placed while the market is closed. Your daily limits reset at 5pm US Central, the start of the futures trading day.

What can go wrong

A quiet day is normal, not a fault. The Everything else tab tells "no setup formed" apart from "a setup formed and one of your rules turned it down". Those are different situations with different answers.
