Stop everything, Pause, and switching off

Stop everything and the calmer controls around it: pause, switch off and stop, exactly what each one does to your orders and positions, and how to undo it.

There is one emergency control, and it works the same everywhere you see it.

Stop everything

Stop everything closes every open position at market and stops new trades on every account you have connected. It stays on until you clear it.

It covers every account on purpose. An emergency stop that closed one account while others kept trading would not be an emergency stop. The confirmation says so before anything happens.

The order matters. First, new trades are blocked on every account, so nothing new can open while the closes go out. Then each account's positions are closed. Wildflower waits for your computer to confirm each one, then tells you what happened, with counts.

It also cancels Wildflower's own orders. Before each position closes, every order Wildflower placed for it is cancelled: the entry, the stop and the target. That includes orders only seconds old that had not been recorded yet. An order left waiting over a closed position could fill later and open a new position with no stop and no target. Orders Wildflower did not place, such as ones you placed yourself at your broker, are left alone. If an order will not cancel and your broker confirms it is still there, Wildflower emails you and names it, so you can cancel it on your broker's platform.

If the computer running an account looks offline, Wildflower says so plainly. The close on that account is not confirmed, and anything open there is protected only by its stop and target at your broker. You will not see a reassuring message Wildflower cannot back up.

You will find it on the Live page and on each account's page. It asks you to confirm, and it never asks for a reason. Nothing stands between you and stopping your own trading.

Clear the stop

While Stop everything is on, the same place offers Clear the stop. Clearing it lets every account trade again, each by its own settings. It does not restart anything you had paused or switched off separately, and it does not reopen the positions that were closed. In the rare case an account stopped itself while its connection to us was down, it stays stopped until the connection is back. Then clearing works as normal.

Pause

Pause stops new entries on one account. Anything already open is untouched. It is at the top of the account's page, beside Stop everything. To give it an end time, open More and use Pause until. A pause with an end time resumes by itself when that time passes. Without one, it stays paused until you resume it.

The top bar has Pause Wildflower, which holds new entries on every account without touching what is open. It has no end time and waits for you. On a phone the button is shortened to Pause, and to Run once everything is paused. It is the same control.

When a pause starts, an entry order already waiting at your broker is cancelled, including one placed seconds earlier. Otherwise it could still fill on a paused account. The stop and target on a position you already have stay where they are, because a pause is not a close.

Switch off

Switch off turns one account off. It is the Bot switch at the top of the account's page: one tap, no questions. Nothing new is placed on it, and anything open is left with your broker. It is the calm way to stop an account trading, not an emergency control.

Which one you want

  • "Get me flat and stop everything, now." Stop everything.
  • "Nothing new for a while, keep what's open." Pause, or Pause Wildflower for every account.
  • "This account is done trading." Switch off.

You can undo Pause, Switch off and the stop itself. You cannot undo the closes Stop everything makes: those positions are closed at market, at the price the market gives.
