My broker shows as disconnected

What happens to your trading while a broker connection is down, how Wildflower shows it, and the order to check things in so it reconnects.

Updated 12 October 2026 · 2 minute read

A disconnected broker means Wildflower cannot reach it right now.

What it means for your money

No new trades are placed while the connection is down. Positions already open are still protected by their stops, because those stops live at your broker, not inside Wildflower.

What to check, in order

  1. Wait a minute. Wildflower reconnects by itself, waiting a little longer between each try. Short drops are normal.
  2. Check your broker's own status. If your broker is down, nothing on our side can fix it.
  3. Check the Status page. It shows Wildflower's own health, from the same readings our alarms use.
  4. Check your sign-in. API keys can expire or be replaced, and a new key stops the old one working.
  5. Enter your new sign-in on Connections if it has changed.

If you need to close everything

Stop everything closes what is open and shows what your broker confirmed. If your computer cannot be reached, it says the close was not confirmed, rather than showing a reassuring message. If that happens, close the position in your broker's own platform.

What can go wrong

Reconnecting with a new sign-in does not lose anything. Broker accounts are archived rather than deleted, so your history stays.

What's next

Connection problems, broker by broker.
