ProjectX is the platform Topstep runs on. If you trade a Topstep account through TopstepX, this is your route.
Before you connect
Wildflower places each entry and its protective bracket together. A bracket is the stop and target attached to a trade. On Topstep, that needs one setting on the account:
- Log in to TopstepX.
- Open the account's Risk Settings.
- Under Bracket Type, choose Auto OCO Brackets.
- Do this for every account you want Wildflower to trade.
How to connect
- Open Connections and choose Add a broker, then ProjectX.
- Enter your ProjectX username. It is the email address you log in with.
- Enter your ProjectX API key. You make it in TopstepX. It is not your password.
- Select Send to my computer.
Your browser locks what you typed so only your computer can open it, before it is sent. Your computer signs in to ProjectX and finds every account behind the login. They appear on the Connections page, switched off. We never see the key. Our servers learn only the account names and numbers your computer found.
All those accounts share one username and key. That is how ProjectX works. Wildflower trades only the account each strategy is put on. If it can't confirm an account's number, that account won't switch on, rather than trading the first one it finds.
The sign-in stays on your computer, locked to your Windows account there. Your orders go through that copy. You enter it once for the connection, and it covers every account under the login, including ones Topstep adds later. Where your broker sign-in lives.
Where it runs
Your trading runs from your own computer, through the Wildflower desktop agent. Keep that computer on and online during the hours you want to trade. There is more in Where your trading runs.
What can go wrong
- The key is rejected. Keys can be revoked or replaced in your firm's dashboard. Make a new one and enter it again from the Connections page. One entry updates every account under the login.
- Positions open without a stop. That is the bracket setting above. Fix it in TopstepX, not here.
- Opposing positions across accounts. Some firms don't allow one account to be long while a related account is short. Each account has a hedging setting, in Bot settings under Hedging, so you decide how strict to be. Each account's connection panel shows its setting. Turning the block off asks you to confirm first, because Wildflower then stops preventing opposing positions for you.
