Add your indicator to Quantower

Copying your indicator for Quantower, the one-time setup with Visual Studio, building it into Quantower, adding it to a chart, alerts, and updating it later.

Updated 12 October 2026 · 4 minute read

Your indicator works with Quantower as well as TradingView. The rules are the same, so it marks the same setups, stops and targets as your preview. The Indicator plan covers both. Quantower builds its indicators with Visual Studio, Microsoft's free code editor, so you add it on a Windows computer.

Choose Quantower

On Ready for TradingView, choose Quantower at the top. You see Ready for Quantower and No errors: your indicator has been checked for errors and matched to your preview, so it finds the same setups. Below that is Your settings in Quantower: what you can change in the indicator's settings. If part of your indicator can't go on Quantower, that part is named. Rules on 15-second candles work: Quantower has 15-second charts.

The one-time setup

Do this once, before your first indicator:

  1. Install Visual Studio Community (free) from Microsoft. When it asks what to install, choose .NET desktop development.
  2. In Visual Studio, open Extensions, then Manage Extensions, search Quantower, and install Quantower Algo. Visual Studio restarts to finish.

Put it in Quantower

  1. In Visual Studio, click File, New, Project, search Indicator and choose Quantower's Indicator. Name it as the steps show: Wildflower and your indicator's name with no spaces.
  2. Open its code file, select everything, paste over it, then click Build, Build Solution. Quantower Algo puts it in Quantower for you.
  3. In Quantower, open a chart using your indicator's candle size, click Indicators on the chart, search Wildflower, choose your indicator, and confirm its settings.

Times

Your indicator reads Quantower's candles in UTC and turns them into each market's own time, so sessions, opening ranges and the daily close are right whatever time zone Quantower shows. The box on your chart shows its times in UTC.

Alerts

When a new setup's candle closes, it shows an alert in Quantower. Alert on each setup in the indicator's settings switches it. Setups already on the chart when it loads don't alert.

What it draws

  • Arrows under each buy and over each sell.
  • Entry, stop and target boxes and the lines from your rules, as in TradingView.
  • A box in the top right corner with your indicator's name, how many setups it found and the last setup.

Marks are decided when each candle closes, so they never move afterwards.

Update it

Copy it again from Add it to Quantower. In Visual Studio, open the same project, paste over its code and click Build, Build Solution. Charts that have it pick up the new version, and its settings stay.

Does it match?

Choose It's on my chart, then find the setups Wildflower lists on your Quantower chart. If the times differ by whole hours, the time zone in Quantower's settings differs from the one your chart here uses. The marks stay on the same candles.

Build shows errors

What happened? The choices when it didn't work in Quantower

A bit of Quantower's example code may have been left behind. Open the code file, select everything, delete it, paste again and build. If the errors say TradingPlatform can't be found, the project wasn't made as a Quantower Indicator: make a new one as above.

It is not in the Indicators list

Build it first, and check Visual Studio says the build succeeded. If it still isn't listed, close Quantower and open it again.
